About Loudoun Citizens for Social Justice/LAWS

Founded in 1984, the mission of LAWS is to provide victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse with safety, empowerment and hope services to live as survivors free from the effects of violence. LAWS provides a holistic continuum of services to empower and support survivors as they recover from the trauma of abuse. LAWS’ current services include:  emergency domestic violence shelter, 24-hour crisis hotline, specialized trauma therapy for child, youth, and adult survivors, legal services, advocacy and case management, and outreach and violence prevention education.  LAWS also operates the Loudoun Child Advocacy Center, a safe, child-friendly space for child victims of abuse to talk about what happened and for providing a well-coordinated multidisciplinary response.  The Resourceful Woman Thrift Store, benefitting LAWS’ programs, offers free clothing and household items to victims receiving services.  Last year, LAWS served 1,148 victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and educated thousands of individuals through prevention, outreach and awareness programs.  Loudoun Empty Bowls provides nutritious meals for survivors – adults and dependent children – needing emergency shelter.
